Scot Matteson
President & CEO
With over 45 years of real estate finance and development experience, Scot Matteson has directed project financing, investment strategy, venture and capital partnerships, debt facilities, and equity structuring across a portfolio of approximately $3 billion. His vision has always been the development of best-in-class projects in markets that demonstrate cyclical stability, desirability, and significant barriers to entry.
Among his achievements, Mr. Matteson identified and developed an iconic location in Aspen, Colorado, which became The Residences at The Little Nell at the Gondola Plaza, and One Aspen, a fourteen-home development at the base of Aspen Mountain. In a Whitehall Fund venture with Goldman Sachs, he planned, designed, entitled, constructed, and operated the Residences at The Little Nell, a $350-million development of hotel rooms, fractional units, retail, restaurant, and affordable housing. He played a similar role with Goldman Sachs and Euro Hypo Bank in the development of Sapphire Tower in downtown San Diego, a $140-million ground-up mixed-use project.
After studying Economics at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Mr. Matteson founded Matteson Development Corporation, then cofounded American Realty and Financial Services of California, which grew to a 100-person, nine-office firm with $15 billion in mortgage banking, brokerage, direct investment, and principal transactions. He also formed Boston American Financial Group in partnership with Credit Suisse First Boston, which grew to over $5.5 billion of single-tenant lending before its sale to GE Capital, and served on the board of the Encore Housing Fund, a $350-million distressed housing fund.
Founded in 2004, Matteson Capital has partnered with Goldman Sachs, Canyon Capital, and CIM on a variety of mixed-use and hospitality projects, and today leads the Boardwalk at Bricktown in Oklahoma City, the future home of the tallest building in the United States.
